Wedding: Jon + Sara

I first met Jon and Sara at a wedding I second shot last summer. I also had the best time photographing their engagement. It’s always fun working with clients you’ve met before because walking in to this wedding I felt like I had already made friends. Sara was calm, cool and collected. She and her girls were so fun and sweet to spend the day with. Likewise, Jon and his guys were down to earth and so joyful the whole day through.

Jon and Sara wed at a beautiful church in the city on a very warm afternoon. But no one seemed to mind the heat too much – there was too much to celebrate to be bothered by it.

The couple met on opposite sides of a door to pray with one another before the ceremony – it was a beautiful moment. One that set the tone for not only their day, but I’m sure the rest of their marriage. They were so kind with one another and the looks that I saw them give each other throughout the day were so genuine and full of love.

Congratulations, you two. Keep serving one another in love and always remember to take time for adventures and fun together. Thanks for having me along to celebrate with you!

Wedding: Eric + Melanie

I could probably write a whole book about my thoughts on Eric and Melanie’s wedding day. I won’t, don’t worry. In an attempt to keep it brief, here are my observations:

I have never worked with a couple who have so much charisma, joy, and outward, expressive love for one another. Shooting Eric and Mel’s wedding was truly a treat. I enjoyed watching them through my camera every moment of their day.

They chose to do a first look in the vineyards and it couldn’t have been any sweeter. I led the bride up to her groom with her eyes closed and joined them hand to hand. Eric’s reaction to Melanie was one for the books – you could tell his heart was bursting with excitement and love for his bride. Then they read notes they had written to each other out loud.

These two were nearly giddy all day. The smiles never left their faces. They had a sweet ceremony followed by a super fun reception featuring wings, barbecue, ice cream, and some of the most energetic and fun guests dancing the night away.

My most favorite moment of the day was Eric and Melanie’s first dance. All they saw was each other. It was like no one else was in the room. Their emotion and love for one another was felt throughout the whole tent. I have watched couples dance their first dance for 9 years now and I can say without a doubt that Eric and Melanie had me mesmerized like none other.

Eric and Melanie – There is no doubt in my mind that your love is powerful. Use it to serve one another and be evidence of the one who created it. It was my absolute honor to spend the day with you capturing a picture of your love story. Congratulations to you both.

Wedding: Chris and Jen

Saturday I had the privilege of spending the day with Chris and Jen as they tied the knot at the beautiful Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth Park. Jen looked amazingly beautiful and so did all her girls. Shoutout to Jamie and Santa for doing an incredible job on the hair and makeup!

Chris and Jen are so laid-back, easy going kind of people – they make you feel welcome and are simply fun to be around. They had beautiful weather and the most gorgeous backdrop on their wedding day. I loved watching Chris during the ceremony. He had a big smile on his face most of the time and clearly was pumped to be marrying the girl of his dreams. The looks that Jen gave Chris made it obvious that she adores him. I just loved capturing their love.

There were so many personal touches to this wedding. The bride grew the flowers used to line the aisle. The groom made the lawn games. And goodness were the flowers that they got from ErieWay Flowers beautiful! I may have been a little obsessed with them. Sorry, not sorry if you get sick of all the flowers in this post.

Chris and Jen – I hope you both live out your married days laughing with each other and lavishing love on one another. You guys are perfect together and I wish you the best!

Wedding: Chris and Courtney

I discovered this past weekend that shooting another photographer’s wedding is about as good as it gets. Chris is a Rochester photographer and photo booth business owner and I’ve actually known him since high school. Chris and Courtney’s wedding was unbelievable. Being in the wedding industry themselves, they structured their day around making it wonderful for all the vendors involved as well as being crazy fun for their guests. They took their day at a slow, easy pace allowing them to enjoy all aspects.

From allowing nearly 3 hours for photos, being totally up for multiple locations, wanting to be creative, having a fantastic fun energy all day, these two (and their wedding party) made it crazy easy for me to love my job. I mean, it doesn’t get much better than that. They really just went with the flow and loved being in the moment all day long – a photographer’s dream.

But enough about what I loved about the day – let me give you a little background on them. Chris and Courtney met while both working at Henrietta Ambulance as EMTs. They dated for a short time but both parted ways. Chris regretted letting her go and for 6 years they were apart. But their paths would cross again, finding themselves missing one another and a mutual friend brought them back together. It was then they knew they wanted to be each other’s forever.

So fittingly, we stopped at Henrietta Ambulance (on a last minute whim – I love that!) to take some portraits. You’ll see these below. The one where they are both in the back of the ambulance is my favorite – such a cool shot of them.

Their reception was crazy fun – they went all out. The food at Wildwood was one of the best reception meals I’ve had. They had 2 photo booths, an AMAZING live band – The Town Pants. And one of my favorite Rochester DJs – DJ Key-Yo. They had macarons (sooo good!) and Bruster’s ice cream. All their guests (and vendors) had a great time.

Chris and Courtney – I’m so honored to have been invited to celebrate with you. You guys kicked butt with everything wedding planning. Like seriously – #weddinggoals, guys. I wish you the absolute best for your future together. I know you’re made for one another. The love and support of you have for each other is so obvious and I know that will carry you through thick and thin. Love you guys!
